Policy on Executing an Oath of Office

 

 

A.  GENERAL POLICY:

 

It is the policy of the Board of Judicial Policy and Administration that any newly retained judicial officer shall execute an oath of office.

 

 

B.  FILING OATH OF OFFICE:

 

A Supreme Court Justice shall file his or her oath of office with the Secretary of State and the Clerk of the Supreme Court.  A District Judge, Circuit Court Judge, and a Circuit Court Magistrate shall file his or her oath of office with the office of the County Clerk of the county in which the oath was taken and with the Clerk of the Supreme Court.
